Between October 2024 and next March, Ormskirk Community Partnership will be organising a programme of six talks, on the first Tuesday afternoon of each month at 1:30 p.m., as follows.
1 October: West Lancs Famous & Infamous - A look at the amazing people of the District who achieved fame or fortune.
5 November: Ormskirk History in 6 Objects* - 6 unique items from the archive collection of the Ormskirk & District Family History Society.
3 December: A Very Ormskirk Christmas History - Looking at the traditional Christmas from the Ormskirk perspective.
7 January: History of Ormskirk Inns & Beerhouses - Not all 88 but as many as can be fitted in to an hour.
4 February: West Lancs Military Heroes Remembered - From across the Centuries, our local heroes.
4 March: The Manor of Ormskirk - How the Medieval town grew and where the clues to its origins can still be found.
The talks will be held at St Anne's Pastoral Centre, Prescot Road, Ormskirk L39 4TG They will be presented by Dot Broady-Hawkes, with the exception of the November talk (*) which will be presented by Kathryn Macdonald, Librarian, Ormskirk & District Family History Society.
The talks are free but we would appreciate voluntary contributions towards the cost of running these events.
